IEEE Visualization 2005 Contest

Submissions

Submissions will consist of a 2-page PDF document describing the solution along with a URL to a web page of accompanying information including (at minimum) a link to a video demonstration, the static and storyboard images (if completed), and the names of the team members. Concurrent submission to the posters program is not allowed.

PDF Document

The two page PDF document must be formatted according to the Vis05 Formatting Guidelines. The document must include the name of all team members, their affiliations, a screenshot of the entry, and an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the entry with regards to the tasks given. Students must be identified in the document.

Web Page

The web page must have a link to the PDF document and to a video demonstrating the entry. Please use the format given here.

Video

An electronic video is required demonstrating the work. Audio is not required with the video, but can be helpful. Videos should be of a reasonable size (20MB maximum). The InfoVis Contest page has some suggestions for video processing. Do not contact the InfoVis contest committee regarding questions about the Vis05 contest. DivX, Quicktime, MPEG, and AVI video with standard codecs are supported.

The video should demonstrate the tasks given by the tasks page. It should demonstrate the interactivity (if any), the tools exploratory capabilities, and to what data specific tasks were attempted.

Submitting

To submit an entry, email vis05-contest@cse.msstate.edu before midnight, Pacific Daylight Time, on August 31st, 2005. The email must contain the names of the team members, their affiliations, and a URL to the entry web page (with links to the PDF document and video). This URL pointed to by the website and its contents must remain available throughout the judging.

Submission assumes intent to attend the IEEE Visualization Conference. Attendance is a requirement for winning. As the conference is supported by its attendees, winners of the contest can not be reimbursed for their registration or travel expenses. Winners will give a brief presentation during the conference regarding their submission.
