Contest Entry Visualization System
Describe in less than 200 words the visualization system(s) used and where, when, and by whom it was developed. Links for more information about the tool can be provided here, but the description on this page should be sufficient for evaluation.
Task 1: Interactive Exploration
In 300 words or less, describe the interactive performance and exploratory support of your visualization system(s). For discussing the interactivity, describe the performance for each mode/display type in your system if there are multiple systems. Be sure to include statistics such as your machine hardware (vendor, processor speed, memory, graphics acceleration, etc.), generated image size, color depth, etc. that would affect performance. Include information such as the fact that only a subset of the data was considered or that a subsampled version of the data was considered if that would change performance.
When discussing exploration support, describe the exploratory support your system provides. Discuss what parameters are used to manipulate the visualization, and how the user interacts with them. Also discuss any advanced forms of interaction/exploratory support. Screenshots of the parameter interfaces may be included here: use a thumbnail version on the web page that links to a larger version (no larger than 1280x800).
This criterion will be chiefly evaluated based upon the video supported by the statistics mentioned here.
Task 2: Static Presentation
In 300 words or less, describe the static presentation approach for the visualization. Justify the chosen depictions by stating what features are depicted and how the novel visualization methods highlight the features. Comparision with standard visualization methods is not required, but could strenghten arguments in this section. For the static visualizations generated, discuss the time to generate them in addition to the performance characteristics such as machine type, use of subsampled data, etc.
This criterion will be evaluated based upon demonstration in the linked images/storyboard and by the description given in this section.
Task 3: Data Specific Tasks
Visualization Performed 1
For each major data specific task performed, discuss the method used to generate the visualization, the process needed/followed to generate the result, and what insights are gained from that visualization. Provide a screen shot for each visualization performed (use a thumbnail on the web page linked to an image no larger than 1280x800).
Evaluation of the level of visualization fusion will be based upon the examples presented on the web page. Demonstrations in the video will assist in this evaluation.
Visualization Performed 2
Include one of these sections for each data specific exploration performed (up to 5 total).
Additional Comments
List additional comments about the entry and the systems capabilities and limitations. Be brief to assist the reviewers with evaluation. Examples of things to discuss here are particular challenges faced and unique capabilities.
