Academic Background

T.J. Jankun-Kelly graduated with distinction from Harvey Mudd College in 1997 with Bachelor's degrees in physics and computer science and received a Master's degree (1999) and a Doctorate in Philosophy (2003) in computer science from the University of California, Davis under Dr. Kwan-Liu Ma. He has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering since 2003. He is affiliated with the CSE's VisLab, the Visualization, Analysis, and Imaging Laboratory (VAIL), GeoResources Institute, the Center for Computer Security Research, and the Institute for Neurocognitive Science and Technology. He is a member of the ACM, SIGGRAPH, and the IEEE Computer Society.

Current Research

T.J.'s research focuses around visualization (both information and scientific) and computer graphics. T.J. research includes user interfaces and models for visualization, web-based visualization, graph visualization, time-varying volume visualization, and transfer function generation for volume visualization. T.J. teaches undergraduate and graduate coourses in his research area.
