Scientific and information visualization have developed as two separate fields. While this approach has been beneficial, lessons from each community can be applied to the other to enhance them both. In addition, a science which approaches visualization as a unified field is needed for a better understanding of visualization as a whole.
Research Highlights
Visualization Exploration Process Model
The visualization process is itself information; this information can in turn be visualized. Using models of the visualization exploration process, such processes can be stored, shared with collaborators, or analyzed in different ways. This research aims at developing a complete model of the visualization exploration process and exploring its uses.
