Information in digitized form is everywhere from web transactions to personal photo databases. To make sense of this data, there are two main approaches: Use automation to find features of interest (data mining) or utilize the high-bandwidth channel of the human visual system to explore the information (information visualization). Information visualization is the fusion of computer graphics, human-computer interaction, and perception research that aims to enhance the insight derived from visual depictions and interaction with information. In this course, the students will learn the current theories and practices in information visualization and apply them to a set of problems.
