Computer gaming is a multi-billion dollar industry, and the creation of said games combines elements of computer science, computer graphics, software engineering, graphic design, and more. In this course, we study the principals, practice, and techniques of interactive computer game design, including design theory, design process, and design production. Lessons from other game media (board, card, role-playing, etc.) will also be explored. Students will analyze existing computer games and build interactive computer games in a small, interdisciplinary group format. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to apply extant methods for game creation and have hands-on experience for designing, producing, and implementing games.
