Textbook: Artificial Intelligence: Modern Approach (2nd Edition) by Stuart J. Russell, Peter Norvig

 

Course Description: This course provides an introduction to the fundamental concepts and techniques for building intelligent computer systems. Topics to be covered include:

  • Intelligent agents (1 classes)
  • Problem solving using search (8 classes)
  • Probabilistic reasoning (9 classes)
  • Machine learning (8 classes)

Prerequisite: CSE 2383 Data Structures and CSE 2813 Discrete Structures both with a grade of C or better

 

Grading: There are totally three programming assignments, one mid-term exam, one semester project, and one final exam. Each assignment is due in class two weeks after announcement with the submission of code and a report. The semester project asks students to apply AI techniques to address real-world problems. The students are encouraged to propose their own problems with the consultation of the instructor. Final presentations are required.

Grade assignment:

        90–100   A

        80–89     B

        70–79     C

        60–69     D

          0–59     F

 

Late assignment submission: Late homework is worth half of the credit if within two days of due time. Otherwise 0 credit.

 

Submission format: .zip file or any format allowed by CSE email server.

 

Collaboration policy: All assignments have to be individual work. Final projects can be done by groups with 2-3 students.
